1. Who we are

Nolawi is a spiritual companion app that helps members of the Ethiopian Orthodox community stay connected with their Spiritual Fathers through appointments, check-ins, tasks, messaging, resources, and optional AI-assisted guidance. The service is operated by Brain3.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Nolawi, we may collect:

• Account & profile data - name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), phone number, baptismal name, role (e.g., Spiritual Child, Spiritual Father, Bishop), parish or church information, about-me text, professional or reference details you provide, timezone, and profile photo.
• Pastoral & activity data - appointments and schedules, spiritual tasks and progress, daily check-ins and notes, invitations and invite codes, chat messages and attachments you send, crisis-related alerts and follow-ups, notifications, and resources you access.
• AI Assistant content - prompts and responses when you choose to use the Spiritual AI Assistant.
• Authentication data - credentials for email sign-in, OTP verification codes, and information from Google Sign-In if you choose that option.
• Device & permission data - with your consent, camera or photo library access for profile pictures, approximate or precise location while the app is in use if a feature needs it, push notification tokens, and basic technical logs needed to keep the service secure and reliable (such as IP address, device type, and app version).

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Create and manage your account and roles
• Connect Spiritual Fathers and Spiritual Children and enable pastoral workflows
• Deliver appointments, tasks, check-ins, chat, resources, and notifications
• Provide optional AI spiritual guidance features
• Verify identity, prevent abuse, and secure the service
• Respond to support requests and improve reliability
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your pastoral conversations for third-party advertising.

4. How we share information

We may share information only as needed to operate Nolawi:

• With connected users - for example, a Spiritual Father may see information about connected Spiritual Children that is required for pastoral care (appointments, check-ins, tasks, chat, alerts), and vice versa as the product design allows.
• Service providers - trusted vendors who host infrastructure, send email/OTP, process authentication (e.g., Google Sign-In), deliver push notifications, or provide AI model processing under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
• Legal & safety - when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users or the service.

5. Data retention

We retain account and activity data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, it is first marked for deletion and then permanently removed after a recovery window of 15 days (unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve disputes, security incidents, or backup integrity). Backups may take additional time to fully expire.

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, authenticated API access, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and keep your device updated.

7. Your rights & choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access or export a copy of your personal data
• Correct inaccurate profile information in the app
• Delete your account and related personal data
• Withdraw device permissions in your phone Settings
• Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable

In-app: update your profile, manage notifications on your device, and use Delete Account in Profile. You can also follow our Account Deletion instructions or email Kidus@brain3.ai. Where we provide a data export feature, authenticated users may download their data from the app/API.

8. Children

Nolawi is intended for users who can create an account under applicable law and parish practice. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International transfers

We may process data on servers located outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Nolawi after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
